What People Are Saying About the Book

Foreword review:

Skye, a girl living in an Indigenous community, draws a crowd with her stories, which were first told to her by her grandfather. Skye relays five stories, all focused on animals and all with a unique message and moral. The expressive faces of the animals and people add humor and charm to the soft watercolor illustrations. The book ends with a reminder of the connective power of stories, urging other children to become storytellers themselves.

From Goodreads:

“This one was so good! This is exactly what I want in a traditional storytelling aimed at children. Each story is short and adorably illustrated, the message is clear and so are the consequences, each with something that children can identify. I loved this.”

“An appealing collection of stories about the natural world and how it came to be the way it is. A frame narrative shows Skye, a young Ojibway girl, sharing these stories–told to her by her grandfather– to other children. Each story stands alone and has a lesson to teach. Wonderful watercolor illustrations.”
